HORSE STALL CAFE‘ TABLES

A few months before I had the idea for this project, Phos Community Church asked me to fix a table with 2, 12’ twisted slabs. Instead of creating another table, I suggested cutting one slab into sections for a series of communion tables and pulpit. The other twisted slab I will use for a welcome desk. After months of ideation, I decided to use the rusty, iron, horse stall bars as the bases for this series. The bars serve multiple symbolic purposes, as well as an intriguing design that matches the “reclaimed” theme within the church. Late Pastor Jeff specifically noted that he did not want a pulpit that separated himself from the church body, so the bars initially symbolize the transparency and openness of the church leaders with their congregation. Additionally, just as God has repurposed us, so is every aspect of this series of tables.

There were a total of 4 communion tables, and 1 pulpit, all ranging in height. We also consider the size and style of this series to fall within our line of commercial cafe tables.
